Holistic Yoga is a type of yoga that combines movement with a focus upon the breath, to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit. Holistic Yoga is a term that's sometimes used to mean whole body, and sometimes to denote a fusion of style or traditions, aiming to transform every aspect of the practitioner's life.
The Holistic Asana approach follows a guideline format that suggests a few fundamental principles to create a balanced and whole yoga class, including meditation, intention/mantra, pranayama (breathing exercises), and asana (yoga postures). We use whole yoga guidelines when developing Hatha, Vinyasa, or Restorative classes. We can also modify the class sequences to emphasize specific postures (e.g., a back-bending or hip-opening) or create specialty classes to meet the needs of the students (Pre-Natal, Children’s Yoga, Physical Limitations, etc.)
